A goal from the Georgian gives Ravenna three important points against a tough Sammaurese

The Ravenna FC kicks off 2025 at home with an important victory, defeating Sammaurese 1-0 at the Benelli thanks to a goal from Lordkipanidze in the first half. It was a hard-fought match that was not particularly spectacular, partly due to the heavy condition of the playing field. However, the pitch was in better condition compared to recent appearances, a sign that the interventions made by the club are starting to bear fruit. The Giallorossi performed better in the first half, where they came close to scoring on several occasions before taking the lead, but in the second half, they faced a resurgence from Sammaurese, who nearly equalized at the end.
The match immediately opens with a thrill for Ravenna: in the 2nd minute, Sammaurese creates a dangerous opportunity with a deep ball for Gningue, whose diagonal shot grazes the post. After overcoming the scare, the home team takes control of the game and responds in the 12th minute with Manuzzi, but his shot from inside the area goes high. Shortly after, in the 13th minute, Rossetti tries his luck with a shot from outside the box that goes just wide, with Pozzer unable to intervene. A similar situation occurs in the 15th minute when a backheel flick in a scramble by Esposito, set up by Guida’s corner, fails to hit the target.
The decisive goal arrives in the 19th minute: Lordkipanidze, with his fifth goal of the season, collects a ball at the edge of the penalty area and runs towards the box, launching a precise diagonal shot, albeit not powerful, that beats the visiting goalkeeper.
In the second half, Sammaurese raises the defensive line and tries to trouble the yellow-red defense. At the 61st minute, Manuzzi (brother of the Ravenna player) tests Fresia with a dangerous diagonal shot. The yellow-reds attempt to seal the deal in the 66th minute with Guida, who is served on the counterattack by Lordkipanidze, but the opposing defense manages to deflect the shot.
In the 85th minute, captain Rrapaj narrowly misses doubling the score with a curling shot that goes just wide, while in the 90th minute, Sammaurese has a huge opportunity with Maltoni, who, diving from the small area, sends the ball over the crossbar. The excitement continues in stoppage time: in the 94th minute, the visiting team protests vigorously for an alleged foul by Amoabeng in the penalty area, but the referee allows play to continue, deeming the challenge to be fair.
It wasn’t the best Ravenna of the season, but Marchionni’s boys showed great solidity and the ability to endure, keeping pace with the top teams, all of whom are winning.
Next Sunday, the giallorossi will be on the road again in Tuscany, to face Tuttocuoio in a new chapter of their quest for the top of the standings.
